Day 2

vermont-cycling-tour-14-great-freedom-adventuresCycle back roads discovering the “real” Vermont where it is not unusual to share the road with cows or farm tractors. Pedal by hill farms that have been in the same family for generations and whose bucolic appearance belies the hard done work within. Pedal alongside rivers, lakes and bogs watching for beaver and moose. Enjoy breathtaking ridgeline vistas of mountain ridges stretching to the horizon. Back at the Inn, take a hike on the trails or play a few holes of golf. Or, simply relax on the veranda and watch the sun sink in the western sky bathing the inn and barns in a golden glow. Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner prepared by expert chefs. Biking Mileage: 32, 41 or 46

Day 3

Then, enjoy easy cycling as you follow the river’s gradual descent. This nearly effortless stretch of road makes seemingly expert cyclists of us all. Travel through charming Vermont villages and if you like, stop at the country stores along the way. Arrive in Norwich, a quintessential Vermont town first settled in 1763 that boasts fine Georgian, Federal and Greek Revival homes. A classic New England church, featuring a tall steeple housing a Paul Revere bell, guards the town green. Head to the Norwich Inn to enjoy the comforts of this historic Inn, which include a pub, restaurant, microbrewery and fireside rooms that invite relaxation. Enjoy a delicious dinner with the group.
