Great Freedom Adventures offers upscale biking trips in northeast US regions distinguished by a wealth of natural beauty, vibrant history, rich culture and superb biking. Our three to six day tours are fully guided and supported. Meticulously planned routes and indulgent itineraries draw from 34 years of experience biking these backroads. We show you the places you absolutely don’t want to miss along with hidden treasures that we know about because these are our backyards.
The Experienced Great Freedom Adventures Team
The GFA team possesses a wealth of expertise. Founder Jeanne Rummel has four decades of bicycle touring experience and 18 years experience creating exceptional multi-day biking and hiking adventures. In addition, she has designed and run award-winning charity bike tours and events. Dedicated service is provided by trained guides who live in, know and love our diverse landscapes and seascapes.
Our tour leaders are a fun-loving, enthusiastic group with wonderful interests and backgrounds. This talented group includes bike racing team members and captains, triathletes, marathoners, long-distance cyclo- tourists, and Nordic champions. They come from backgrounds as leadership trainers, mediators, bike shop repair employees, camp counselors, educators, and social workers. They are musicians, cycling instructors and group facilitators. They volunteer in places like Rwanda, New Orleans, South Africa and Chile helping hurricane survivors, AIDS victims and under privileged school children. What they all have in common is a love of biking and the outdoors, knowledge of the region, an understanding of bike safety and cycling techniques and the desire to share all of this knowledge with you. As our past tour guests will attest, our guides provide truly exceptional service and their #1 priority is insuring that your vacation is absolutely wonderful.
Biking Trips to Remember
On a Great Freedom Adventures biking trip, you’ll bicycle along dramatic shoreline, bucolic farmland, salt-marsh filled with shore birds — and through covered bridges, fragrant vineyards and charming villages. Along the way you’ll stop at lighthouses, mansions, gardens, historic sites, wineries, micro-breweries, artisanal cheese making farms, beaches, national wildlife refuges, country stores, art galleries and chic shops.
Engaging Beyond-the-Bike Activities
Great Freedom Adventures’ tours are distinguished not just by superb biking but also by the wealth of unique activities and authentic experiences that fully immerse the traveler in each destination. Walk nature preserves at the height of the Monarch butterfly migration; kayak sparkling bays and wildlife-filled estuaries; explore barrier islands, northern forests, tide pools, salt marsh, bogs, headlands and grasslands; and learn about the ecology of these diverse habitats.
