Guests Walk Through Verdant Landscapes Under Green or Multicolored Leaf Canopies on Great Freedom Adventures’ First Walking Tour: The Colors of Vermont

Sherborn, MA, February 10, 2016 – Great Freedom Adventures, known as an expert operator of premier multi-day bike tours, announces their first tour developed specifically for walkers: The Colors of Vermont. The four-day trips, most based in Woodstock, VT, are offered in multiple seasons so that guests may choose to experience the bright greens of spring, the deepening shades of summer or the radiant colors of fall. The specific routes have been carefully selected to feature walks lined with maple, beech and birch trees to create a canopy of multi-hued foliage, and the feeling of walking through a postcard scene. Additionally, the itineraries feature sections with wide-open panoramas of pastoral farmland backed by long-range mountain vistas; some of these views have been featured in well-known travel magazines. The walks are rated easy to moderate and average about four miles per day with options for additional walking.

2016 departures of Great Freedom Adventures’ The Colors of Vermont Hiking and Walking Tour are offered June 6, July 11, August 15, October 3, October 7 and October 11. The trips include lodging at fine inns, gourmet dinners, guides, admissions to sites and more. The Woodstock-based departures include a visit to a sugarhouse, a tour of the Rockefeller mansion and gardens, a visit to the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, Quechee Gorge and Simon Pearce Glassblowing. The October 7 departure is based in Randolph and Norwich Vermont and includes a foray over the river to New Hampshire for an exploration of Hanover’s Dartmouth College campus, fine shops and plentiful eateries. On the Vermont side, guests visit country stores and the award-winning King Arthur Baking School and Store. Also on-tap is a private tasting of Vermont craft beer.

The walking tours, starting at $1,395 per person, double occupancy, run concurrently with Great Freedom Adventures’ four-day Vermont bike trips. This makes the tours ideal for couples, friends or family traveling together who have different interests. Guests may opt to do the walking or the biking and all tour guests for each departure will join together for breakfasts, dinners, lodging and some daytime activities.

Vermont was a natural choice for Great Freedom Adventures’ first walking tour. The company has an in-depth knowledge of the state developed during more than three decades of hiking and biking the region. “Great Freedom Adventures was able to utilize its vast Vermont expertise in the creation of exceptional walking tour itineraries, and we are thrilled to share these with guests,” says Jeanne Rummel, Great Freedom Adventures founder.

Guests on The Colors of Vermont Hiking and Walking Tours will experience some of the finest scenery in the state, visit notable sites, and at the end of the day, will be pampered by fine lodging and farm-fresh meals. Guides share knowledge about the plants and wildlife of the Green Mountain State and lead walkers along stunning and diverse routes. Some walks cover easy terrain with little change in elevation while others entail moderate climbs to panoramic viewpoints.

Guests can expect to walk along carriage roads and woods trails and discover secluded ponds, gurgling streams, quintessential farmland, fern groves, wildflower meadows and those long-range mountain views. A sharp eye may detect fox, wild turkeys, deer, beaver and more, or perhaps the signs that they have recently visited.
