Sherborn, MA, February 21, 2012 – The bike tour operator who promotes freedom on two wheels, Great Freedom Adventures, announces a new for 2012 six day Islands and Seacoast Cycle Tour exploring some of New England’s most beautiful islands and coastal regions while viewing migrating monarch butterflies, songbirds, shorebirds and sea mammals.

The July 8-13 tour takes advantage of warm waters and the return of shorebirds and large wading birds along with resident seals. Guests on the September 16-21 tour view monarch butterflies stopping to feed on wildflowers en route to Mexico, hear the melodies of migrating songbirds on Atlantic Flyway stopovers and perhaps see returning seals and dolphins while pedaling through diverse coastal habitats and walking wildlife refuge trails.

The tour features four islands in southern New England that are widely considered among the most beautiful in Northeast US and includes Rhode Island’s Block Island, a place the Nature Conservancy termed “One of the last great places in the Western Hemisphere” and Massachusetts’s Martha’s Vineyard, a favorite retreat of presidents.

“The Islands and Seacoast Tour is the first to combine the four fabulous islands of Massachusetts’s Martha’s Vineyard along with Rhode Island’s Conanicut, Aquidneck and Block Islands and their historic coastal towns, into one unique cycling adventure,” says Jeanne Rummel, Great Freedom Adventures founder.

Wildlife and coastal views are not the only highlights of the itinerary. Guests taste wines at an award-winning vineyard, view Gilded Age mansions, walk Newport’s renowned Cliff Walk and learn fascinating colonial history on an exclusive lantern-light tour. Visits to lighthouses, beaches and Chappaquiddick’s infamous Dike Bridge are also on the agenda.

Daily activity is rewarded by nighttime indulgence at a hilltop island retreat, historic inns in the heart of Newport, RI and Edgartown, MA and at a grand Italianate estate with a private beach and spa.

Guests are met at the Providence, RI airport or the West Kingston, RI Amtrak train station at the start of the tour and are returned at the trip conclusion. For more specific tour information, please view the package details on this Islands and Seacoast Biking Holiday.
