Throughout the tour, guests will stay in a selection of upscale Inns and Hotels along the way. As many are Historic Inns, rooms may vary in design, aesthetics, and layout. We’ve provided some sample images to give you a sense of what your accommodations may look like. Please note in the room selection process; we ask that you choose between a shared or double occupancy room and a private room for individual guests.

Itinerary

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS :
Embark from Point Judith on the Rhode Island coast on the early afternoon ferry to Block Island.

DEPARTURE INSTRUCTION:
Walk before returning to the inn to shower and check out. Transfer by van back to the vehicle lot, the train station, or TF Green Airport.

Day 1:

Embark from Point Judith on the Rhode Island coast on the early afternoon ferry to Block Island. Enjoy refreshments and ocean views at our hilltop inn while your guides fit your bike. On the first island ride, take in a setting the Nature Conservancy termed one of the “Last Great Places.” Later, enjoy tapas, cocktails, and views from the veranda at our island retreat before heading to Great Salt Pond for a beautiful sunset boat excursion. After, enjoy dinner at a top Block Island restaurant.

Day 2:

After breakfast at the inn, bike a coastal route passing wide beaches and salt-water ponds. Walk trails in the Block Island National Wildlife Refuge at the island’s tip. Follow sand trails to the North Light, a scenic lighthouse. Next, pedal through idyllic island landscapes to New Harbor for lunch and, after, an eco-kayak adventure. Paddle through a salt-water bay and estuary, observing and learning about the many plants and animals that make this ecosystem their home. Those who choose to stay on land may enjoy additional cycling, a walk along the bluffs, a lounge on the beach, or a little shopping in town. Enjoy fresh seafood and more at tonight’s fine restaurant.

Biking Mileage: 11 with extended option

Day 3:

Following breakfast, ride to Southeast Lighthouse and the majestic Mohegan Bluffs. Then pedal to Old Harbor and enjoy lunch on the ferry back to the mainland. Bike from Point Judith along the Rhode Island coast through the resort community of Narragansett, with its wide sandy beaches and impressive mansions. Next, explore tranquil Conanicut Island, first settled by Native American tribes of Wampanoags and Narragansetts. From the island’s quaint village of Jamestown, hop on the ferry to Newport (summer). Arrive at our historic inn in the heart of the Old Quarter, then enjoy dinner together at one of Newport’s fine restaurants. Finish the day with a lantern-light walking tour of Newport’s waterfront and historic streets.

Day 4:

Without a doubt, it will be hard to say goodbye to the inspiring sights offered by Rhode Island’s stunning coast and idyllic isles. Bike a spectacular cycling route past commanding yacht clubs, pastoral sheep farms, seaside estates, and rocky headlands. Arrive at the world-renowned Breakers mansion and enjoy a tour of the interior and grounds. After, walk a section of the famous oceanside Cliff Walk before returning to the inn to shower and check out. Transfer by van back to the vehicle lot, the train station, or TF Green Airport.

Booking Information

FINAL BOOKING DEADLINE

7 days prior to the adventure departure.

DEPOSITS

A deposit is due upon booking – $750 per person for five to eight day tours and $500 per person for three to four day tours. Payments may be made by check or credit card. Our receipt of the deposit, registration form, and signed Release form will secure your reservation.

An invoice for the balance will be emailed and final payment is due no later than 30 days (exceptions made for last minute booking) before the tour departure date. Payment may be made by check or online with a credit card. If final payment is not received by the due date, Great Freedom Adventures reserves the right to cancel the reservation.

CANCELLATION POLICIES

All cancellations must be submitted in writing; refunds will be based on the day we receive written notice. Please purchase trip cancellation/travel insurance because exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including personal emergencies, illness or injury, canceled or delayed flights or ground travel to the tour departure point, or weather. Refunds will not be made for a participant arriving late or departing early from a tour, or for a participant not using accommodations, meals, or other services offered as part of a tour.

Cancellation Fees Are as Follows (Per Person):

Cancel 30 days or less from booking date – No charge (Does not apply to custom or private tours or to US tours booked within 60 days of departure or overseas tours booked within 90 days of departure.)
91 or more days before trip – $150
61-90 days before trip – $750 or $500 (loss of deposit)
31-60 days before trip – 50% of trip price
30 or less days before trip – 100% of trip price (20% of your payment may be applied to another of our tours departing within one year of original tour start date.)

TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is available from a number of insurers or their representatives, such as CSA Travel Protection or Travel Guard. You may compare prices and policies at Insure My Trip. We do not sell insurance or recommend any particular insurer or policy, but we highly recommend that you obtain travel insurance.
