Active Vacation on Enchanting Block Island – Three Days
One of the “Last Great Places”
Vacation with us on Block Island and you will be completely enthralled with this enchanting island. Block Island may be America’s best kept island secret and in fact, we should probably include a disclaimer: though you may leave after three days, your heart is almost certain to remain. The Nature Conservancy has named Block Island one of the original “Last Great Places” in the Western Hemisphere and you will soon see why. Over 43% of this pristine natural environment is protected; there are over 30 miles of gorgeous trails, 17 miles of beaches, and myriad wildlife on this Atlantic Flyway stopover.
Exquisite Natural Beauty
On Great Freedom Adventure’s tour of Block Island, you will see this gorgeous island the way it was meant to be seen; by bike, foot and water. Bike along flat ocean hugging roads to the North Lighthouse, nestled in a mesmerizing setting of sand dunes and rugosa roses. Hike atop dramatic oceanfront bluffs, along pristine beaches and through huge sand dunes .
Ireland in America
Travel past Block Island’s saltwater farms with views rolling down to the sparkling ocean and on to the Southeast Lighthouse, perched atop majestic Mohegan Bluffs. Walk trails offering panoramic views across the tranquil island to the Block Island Sound and beyond. Traverse bird filled maritime scrubland to butterfly filled meadows. The peaceful patchwork of fields bordered by old stone walls is surprisingly reminiscent of Ireland.
Beaches and Boats
Boat past oceanside mansions and numerous yachts while enjoying wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres. Kayak the calm waters of Great Salt Pond and its estuaries while learning about the aquatic life. Sun and swim at the beach, head to one of the nightclubs for some live music or lie on the cool sand and drink in the star-filled night sky. This Block Island bike tour vacation will leave you feeling thoroughly charmed by this enchanting place.
Tranquil Island Life
Each day’s end on our Block Island vacation finds us at one of the island’s loveliest retreats. The Atlantic Inn, is a classic island inn with a serene hilltop location affording views of harbor and sea. The setting evokes a feeling of true island life.

Tour Reviews & Testimonials
“The staff at Great Freedom Adventures is the best: friendly, organizational wizards and extremely helpful. They always address questions and respond promptly to any concerns. I’m getting ready to go on my third GFA tour!”

“I have been on three GFA tours and many others before that. The company and the guides do a splendid job at logistics, value for money, fun, equipment, and routes/cues. But what makes Great Freedom Adventures really stand out is exactly that, Great Freedom. Want to do less or want to do more? No problem. Have a food preference? No problem. Tricky travel connection? No problem. Feel like dropping the group for a while? No problem, and here are some suggestions, too. This can-do, upbeat attitude is the hallmark of excellent management and deep expertise. The result for the participant is relaxation and revitalization.”

“We both had a wonderful time on Block Island on our first ever cycling adventure! Between the rides, the sightseeing stops, the hiking, kayaking and the sunset sail, I really felt like I fully experienced Block Island. As a beginner, I felt very well cared for, from the explanation of how to operate the bikes, to the “no biker left behind” policy. It was stress free!”
Debbie R.
“We were totally impressed with the attention to detail that was put into planning this Block Island trip, from offering me a rain jacket packed with the GFA gear for those who have forgotten theirs, to the great snacks at our stops. From the minute we arrived at the ferry until we left the island, we knew the entire tour was well planned. Everything from where we went to what we did when we got there was truly well orchestrated. We liked having an itinerary given to us and gone over before we set out so we had flexibility. Also the historical information was quite interesting and added an extra dimension. There is nothing we would like to see done differently. It was just the right amount of exercise and adventure for us! The service from the guides could not have been better!”
